How do I share a list with family members?

Open a list and tap the share button to get a share code. Send this code to family members so they can join. Everyone can then add items and see updates in real-time.

Can multiple people edit the same list?

Yes! When you share a list, all participants can add, edit, and check off items. Changes sync in real-time, so you'll always see the latest version of your list.

How can I shop faster?

The app is designed for speed with big buttons and simple gestures. Items are organized by store sections so you can move through the store efficiently without backtracking.

Can I use the app with one hand?

Yes! The interface is optimized for one-handed use, so you can check off items while pushing your cart.

How does automatic categorization work?

Items are automatically sorted into categories like Produce, Dairy, and Bakery based on where they're typically found in stores. This helps you shop more efficiently.

Can I customize categories?

The app groups items by common store sections. While you can't manually customize categories, the grouping helps minimize backtracking.

Can I use the app offline?

Yes! We keep a local copy of your lists on your device so you can shop without an internet connection. Your lists are stored on our servers to support syncing and sharing; changes will sync automatically when you're back online.

Does the app work on iPad?

Yes, TheGroceries works beautifully on both iPhone and iPad. Your lists sync seamlessly across all your iOS devices.

Is there an Android version?

Currently, TheGroceries is exclusively available for iOS devices through the Apple App Store. We're considering Android support for the future.

How secure is list sharing?

Shared lists use secure, unique codes that you control. Only people you explicitly share codes with can access your lists.

The app isn't syncing

Make sure you have an internet connection. Try pulling down to refresh on the main screen. If issues persist, try restarting the app. If you were offline, your changes will sync automatically when you reconnect.

I can't join a shared list

Double-check that you've entered the share code correctly. Codes are case-sensitive. If the code has expired, ask the list owner to generate a new one.

Items aren't categorizing correctly

The app learns over time. You can help it by consistently shopping and the categorization will improve based on your patterns.
